Networks

INTRODUCTION

This section focuses on networking gear I've used over time. It's an evolving section as there is still much I don't know about more complex equipment such as the CISCO series of routers and am continuously poking and exploring their capabilities. It's really a placeholder for information on my network and equipment used to make it all work.

I received several older CISCO routers and IP phones as a donation. This section captures some of the notes I've taken in working with this equipment. The CISCO routers are complex with a very large repertoire of instructions, giving them much flexibility. The fellow who gave me the CISCO 3845 router explained that it was used as a core router to run a small company. There is a notable difference in functionality and capabilities between a commercial router and a consumer Ethernet router.
