Generative AI

INTRODUCTION

Note: that this section is under development. Some pages may not yet have full content.

This section is a collection of resources for understanding how generative AI models work. Its a way for me to understand and experience how AI models work. It is also a placeholder for my own experiences with different generative publically available AI chat models. I've also added a list of resources below that I've read, or viewed, information on AI models.

My experience with AI queries on ChatGPT 3.5 (a popular model) is that in most cases it provides excellent responses; such as when asked to improve my writing to make it more readable. As well, it can write articles on various subjects on demand. However, sometimes it can make things up. This is referred to as "hallucinating".

As humans, when we are asked a question for which we are not sure of the answer, we provide an answer which we think is right based on our set of knowledge and experiences. However, that answer may not be correct. We also "hallucinate". Hence, there are similarities between AI and human behaviour in responding to questions whose responses may not be accurate. As with humans, AI responses need to be fact checked for accuracy.

In the legal industry, as an example, ChatGPT 3.5 provided a sampling of legal cases to a lawyer that were entirely made up by the application.

On one ChaGPT query, I asked for citations and noticed (e.g. provide me 3 citations for this query), the last citation source did not exist. Improvements to ChatGPT are being made every day, and I believe subsequent versions will be more accurate.
